Context

IcarWallet is an app that brings a vehicle’s paperwork together in one place —mandatory insurance (SOAP), technical inspection, circulation permit, registration and more— so drivers in Chile always have it on hand, even offline and without carrying documents.

I worked on the first version of the product: the MVP we took all the way to the app’s demo launch. The challenge was twofold: define a genuinely useful product from scratch and ship it fast, available on iOS and Android at the same time.

Process

I worked hand in hand with the native mobile development team. Instead of forcing a single design across both platforms, I designed the interfaces following each system’s own language: Apple’s Human Interface guidelines for iOS and Material Design for Android. Each platform feels native, not a copy of the other.

I prioritized the MVP scope —adding vehicles, storing and viewing documents, offline access and sharing— and refined the flows together with the developers so they were realistic to build within the three-month window.

Native design: iOS & Android
Same experience, two languages: Human Interface for iOS and Material Design for Android. Each platform feels native.
UI kit
Components and styles that gave the product consistency and sped up work with the developers.

Solution

A clear, focused MVP, with native interfaces for iOS and Android that feel at home on each system. The core is having the paperwork always available: offline access, simple management of multiple vehicles and the ability to share documents in seconds.

Vehicle documents
All the paperwork —insurance, technical inspection, circulation permit and more— in one place and available offline.
Core flow
Adding a vehicle and viewing its documents in just a few steps.

Impact

Together with the team we shipped the product in three months, on Android and iOS at once, all the way to the app’s demo launch. Designing in close collaboration with the native developers let each platform meet its own standards without missing the deadline, leaving a solid base on which IcarWallet kept growing into the product it is today.
